The public are consistently more likely than not to believe people in the UK can access the latest medicines

In the months following the approval of COVID vaccines in the UK and further strides in treating those with the disease, the public consistently agree that people in the UK can access the latest medicines. They are also more likely to agree than not that the sector ensures access to new medicines for as many people as possible. As with other trends in this study, public knowledge and experience of the sectors’ abilities specifically in relation to the pandemic is a main factor that shapes their views.

There is enduring scepticism about the motives of the sector – specifically whether patients or profits are its priority

As with other aspects of the sector’s image, those with a negative view of the sector – those that often distrust it – tend to disagree that this level of access, or work to facilitate it by the sector, exists. This group also tend to have a negative view of the sector’s motives.
