Personal interactions with pharmaceutical employees continue to drive positive sentiment towards the sector

Over three quarters of HCPs say that they have had contact with pharmaceutical industry employees over the past twelve months, and nearly all said those interactions were helpful, or even essential, for their role as healthcare professionals.

For me it’s all about the relationship that you have with that individual. It takes time to build up a relationship, but when you trust someone, when you work with them, when you listen to what they want to say, it makes sense and it’s what you need, that grows with time so that when they come back to you again then you’re more open and welcome to listening to them. So, I think that’s absolutely key

An independently accredited mandatory qualification, delivered by the ABPI, is studied for by all current and prospective medical representatives (as well as others who promote medicines), to ensure high standards of fit to practice.

I tend to gage their level of engagement. How pleasant their employee is, how willing they are to go the extra mile. Whether they talk the talk or walk the walk. If my experience with certain pharma companies and pharma reps is good, then I tend to go to them first. I think honesty is something extremely important, whether they can do something or not, if they’re open about it then I really appreciate it

While HCPs continue to see scientific journals as the most reliable source of information about the sector, pharmaceutical companies themselves and their representatives are seen as reliable sources of information by almost half of HCPs.
